After 20 years of framing, I’m saying farewell and embarking on a new journey of self discovery …. What many people may not have known is that my full time job was also art related …working for an art gallery gave me inside access to high end art and the art world that maintained it’s importance and relevance through restoration and archival framing. some of the various projects allowed me to see how my own personal works of art fit into a historical context and encapsulated this brief moment of my life within the eternal legacy of artists worldwide. I’ve framed famous artists as well as friends on the verge of becoming famous and each piece is a glimpse into the context of its existence in our collective stories on Earth. Not only did I work in the art field, the art worked through me…. Octavia Butler’s famous quote “all that we touch, we change. And all that we change, changes us” rings true with each piece of art I held in my hands. Normally these works of art are only viewed behind a velvet rope with a sign that says DO NOT TOUCH. But when they came across my work station, I transformed the art into something that protected and preserved each piece in with custom care and quality. I began to frame so much art, I ultimately began to master several of the techniques unique to custom framing. But all things come to an end so that new beginnings may emerge. And now I look with uncertainty, yet with clarity, at a future that I can design with precision to suit my creative needs. Saying farewell to this chapter of my life so far has been full of emotion but I’m certain that my legacy remains in tact, with integrity to a high quality of work that I amassed, and perhaps a necessary component to where I fit into the history of art in America and how it too can be used to transform the old world and become instrumental in shaping a new world around me …. For my children, Diana, Drew, Ala, Sol, my mother Marcia, and my wife Alexy, now pregnant with our second child, I will continue to look forward without fear of the uncertainty, but with the promise of a newfound freedom and fortune built on the limitless legacy of my ancestors. I’m taking this time to meditate on my next chapter and the direction necessary to take my artistry to the next level. With peace, prosperity and productivity. Thank you all for your continued efforts in supporting my journey. Now it’s time to make the LEGACY real!! Nothing can stop me now …..
sincerely yours truly,
